Land Rover, the world's leading premium sport utility vehicle manufacturer, presents its full 2009 model year line-up featuring Range Rover's all-new Autobiography Package and a fully equipped G4 Challenge LR3 at the 2008 Los Angeles Auto Show

Range Rover As Land Rover's flagship model, the Range Rover blends power, excellent on- and off-road capability and one of the finest interiors a vehicle has to offer. The Range Rover is on hand at this years show featuring the all-new Autobiography Package, enhancing the look and feel of the Range Rover inside and out.

The Autobiography Package offers a new level of elegance to the Range Rover's interior trim. The addition of leather to the center and lower fascia, to the center console sides and to all surfaces of each door panel gives a new, fresh look to the Range Rover. To improve comfort, all seat surfaces are upholstered with soft semi-aniline leather, which gives the leather a supple, smoother feel. The wood panels in the Autobiography consist of 14 pieces located strategically throughout the interior to provide an especially luxurious appearance. The climate control system is upgraded to the full four-zone configuration and special climate controlled glass is fitted to help keep the interior cool and comfortable. The Autobiography Package comes complete with a rear-seat entertainment system, as well as an exclusive, unique Autobiography badge positioned on the tailgate. Finally, one of the most noticeable changes on the exterior are the unique Diamond Turn 20-inch wheels with 7 V-shaped spokes.

As the two model line-up introduced in 2006 – HSE and Supercharged – continues, the Range Rover for 2009 adds further luxurious improvements and practical new features including:

  • Softer leather fitted to the instrument panel
  • Front door seals have been improved to reduce road and wind noise intrusion
  • New exterior color options:

•    Bournville (a very dark brown metallic) •    Santorini Black (metallic) •    Galway Green (a dark hue)

  • New wheels on HSE, HSE LUX and Supercharged:

•    HSE - 19-inch seven sets of double spokes •    HSE LUX - 20-inch aluminum wheel with nine solid spokes •    Supercharged - 20-inch wheel has seven double spokes (different from the HSE's wheel), while an attractive polished 10-spoke wheel is an available option.

Range Rover Sport Land Rover introduced the Range Rover Sport in 2006. Coupled with Land Rover's own Terrain Response™ system, two available engine options – a naturally aspirated V8 or a Supercharged V8 that adds Land Rover's Dynamic Response technology, the Range Rover Sport is technologically stunning. Since its introduction, the Sport has been recognized for its stylish appearance and true on-and off-road capability.

The Range Rover Sport offers a blend of power and handling prowess unrivaled by any other. With its unique styling cues and distinctive interior design, the Range Rover Sport has become an iconic vehicle in its own right. The 2009 Range Rover Sport comes to Los Angeles with interior enhancements, new wheel options and a refreshed rear exterior. Changes for 2009 include:

  • Noble metal finish for the vent bezels, door pulls and the upper side trim on the center console
  • An almond colored leather trim with nutmeg colored carpets and carpeted mats are now offered (replacing previous beige tones)
  • New 20-inch wheel style offered for Range Rover Sport Supercharged
  • Clear lenses for the taillamps and side repeater (side turn signal) lamps
  • Body-color paint has now been applied on the lower portion of the tailgate applique
  • Rear bumper's protective tread strip has a new texture
  • New exterior color options:

Land Rover is also offering an HST Package for Range Rover Sport Supercharged, enhancing both the interior and exterior features of the vehicle. The HST Package includes:

  • A luxury interior package offering premium ebony leather with contrasting ivory stitching
  • Noble metal finish accents adorn the ebony leather door inserts and lower center console.
  • The cold climate package is included, as well as an adaptive front-lighting system and center cooler box.
  • Front and rear bumpers are fit flush with the body for an aerodynamic appearance.
  • A unique front grill
  • Body-colored lower side panels
  • Extended rear roof spoiler
  • Rear chrome exhaust treatments
  • 20-inch diamond turned alloy wheels
  • Adaptive cruise control

LR3 The LR3 is known as a true off-road vehicle. With its spacious interior, its off-road capability and go anywhere attitude, the LR3 has become a favorite amongst off-road enthusiasts. LR3 revolutionized the mid-priced SUV category with its impressive technology and sophistication, unstoppable off-road strengths and poised on-road performance. The 2009 LR3 comes with only one model and two optional trim levels (HSE and HSE LUX). Minor refinements include a new wheel option, body color and interior enhancements.  For 2009, new features added to the LR3 include:

  • Standard 19-inch alloy wheels
  • HSE and HSE LUX options include a new 19-inch alloy wheel style
  • Straight Grained Walnut Wood at the center console uprights and end caps, or the choice of Grand Black Lacquer wood, as a no cost option.
  • Painted body color: wheel arches, front and rear bumper, rear applique, tailgate lift handle – provide a new appearance
  • Exterior door handles revised with Tungsten finish
  • Clear side repeater lenses
  • Almond leather with Nutmeg carpet replaces Alpaca Beige leather and carpet
  • The 3rd row seat and 2nd and 3rd row climate control become a value priced stand alone option package
  • New Exterior Paint Galway Green replaces Tonga Green

All other features on the LR3 carry over from 2008 model year.

LR2 As the newest vehicle in the Land Rover lineup, the LR2 was introduced as a 2008 model. The smallest of any Land Rover, the LR2 delivers outstanding on-road performance as well as class-leading off-road capability.

The LR2 comes with a 3.2-liter inline-six engine featuring advanced technologies to deliver an outstanding combination of performance and economy. Complete with an impressive 230bhp, the i6 engine provides 0-60 mph acceleration in 8.4 seconds (0-100 km/h in 8.9 seconds). The engine is matched to a six-speed automatic transmission, with Land Rover's CommandShift™ offering manual sequential gear changes when required. There is also a driver-selectable sport mode for even more responsive performance.

LR2 comes with Land Rover's Terrain Response™ system, a permanent intelligent all-wheel-drive, Gradient Release Control and Hill Decent Control.  New enhancements for 2009 include:

  • New 19-inch wheel with a Sparkle Silver finish

•    19-inch Shadow Chrome finished aluminum alloy wheels are an available low cost option

  • Almond leather seating surfaces with Nutmeg carpeting replace Alpaca trim
  • Clear side repeater lenses
  • A darker matte-gray finish surrounds the lighting elements in the tail lamps
  • Front interior map lights have been added to the optional Lighting Package
  • 12v DC power socket has been incorporated in the rear load space area
  • New instrument panel finish

•    Dark Laurel (replaces Eucalyptus) •    Satin Silver (replaces Pixel)

  • Two new optional exterior paint colors are offered, Martinique Blue and Lago Grey

Land Rover G4 Challenge LR3 After a tough preliminary challenge in Nevada earlier this year, two American teams (each comprised of one man and one woman) have been selected to participate in the semi-finals later this year in the U.K. To celebrate this off-road driving and adventure competition, Land Rover presents a 2008 Land Rover LR3 that was used earlier this year in the national selections G4 Challenge competition: The Nevada Passage.

At the national selections, two teams were chosen from the participating athletes who competed in driving and outdoor adventure activities designed to test teamwork and skills such as off-road driving, navigating, trail running, mountain biking and kayaking. These top two two-person teams from the national competition have advanced to the international selection that will take place early next year, where one team will be selected to represent the United States in the final challenge in Mongolia.

For the first time in the event's history, the Land Rover G4 Challenge will raise funds for two world-class charity organizations: the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies. The competition will culminate with the donation of a Land Rover on behalf of the winning team to their country's national Red Cross or Red Crescent Society. The Challenge will be environmentally sensitive and fully carbon offset through Climate Care.
