After its stellar world debut at the International Motor Show in Frankfurt last year, the Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG is now entering series production. The new gullwing will be manufactured in Sindelfingen, the largest of the Mercedes-Benz production plants.

Fully hand-built, the new SLS AMG will be manufactured in three different plants. The chassis and aluminium bodyshell are produced by Magna Steyr, one of the most highly respected system partners of Daimler. The 6.3-litre V8 AMG power unit with 571 hp is assembled according the principle "one man, one engine" at the Affalterbach Mercedes-Benz plant. Renowned for its remarkable quality standard and awarded with J.D. Power Award for the same reason, the Mercedes-Benz plant in Sindelfingen will host the final assembly of the new gullwing's hand-production. At this plant, specially selected, highly qualified specialists will produce the new SLS substantially by hand. Premium quality is not only ensured by continuous monitoring of the ongoing production process. At the end of the production process, the entire vehicle is subjected to further, extensive quality checks.
