McLaren MP4-12C Spider Makes World Debut at Pebble Beach
McLaren MP4-12C Spider was officially unveiled in the beginning of July. Now McLaren showed the supercar for the first time in public at this weekend's Pebble Beach Concours d'Elegance.
The 12C Spider is lightweight vehicle with a high-powered engine which generates 625 horsepower (460 kW). It also includes unique Retractable Hard Top (RHT) folding roof system that can be lowered or raised on the move, and a carbon ‚ÄėMonoCell' chassis identical to that of the groundbreaking 12C Coupe.
The 12C Spider presented at Pebble Beach is not the one which we are already familiar thanks to the official photos. Instead, this example is in new volcano yellow paint, which adds even more dramatic effect to the car.
The impressive output of this McLaren comes from its bespoke 3.8-litre V8 twin turbo which is mated to the 7-Speed SSG dual-clutch transmission. The latter delivers lightning-fast gear changes through rocker-mounted shift paddles affixed to the rear of the steering wheel.
Vehicle dynamics technology feature Brake Steer, ProActive Chassis Control and the unique McLaren Airbrake. They all serve to bring more comfort in all driving conditions; and yet deliver race car performance and handling on track.
