Chevrolet Silverado Cheyenne Concept vehicle makes a debut today at the popular SEMA Show. This is a performance-oriented version of the new 2014 Silverado, however it combines reduced curb weight with the performance of the new 420-horsepower 6.2L V-8 engine.

In addition, the tuned model also includes lowered ride height, a rear stabilizer bar and Brembo carbon ceramic brakes. These enhancements further highlight model's high-performance character.

As mentioned, the design philosophy of this concept features lightweight strategy. In particular, the vehicle includes carbon fiber front and rear bumpers, tailgate and inner cargo box. These elements reduce Chevy's weight with approximately 200 pounds from the 4,503 pounds base curb weight.

The form of the lightweight components was matched with their low-mass function. The carbon fiber front bumper features racing-inspired ground effects styling. There are also carbon body-side ground effects and a carbon fiber tailgate with a spoiler. The hood includes a Camaro Z/28-inspired extractor vent.

Furthermore, in terms of weight saving there have been also added Camaro Z/28 Brembo carbon ceramic brakes. To be more precise, their carbon ceramic-matrix rotors are much lighter than conventional steel rotors. The result is saved un-sprung weight, enhanced driving performance and more immediate and direct handling.

The truck runs on charcoal-painted 19-inch Camaro Z/28 aluminum wheels and high-performance tires that definitely contribute towards its powerful stance on the road. What is more, in the Cheyenne are removed the trailer hitch, spare tire, interior center console and some of the sound-deadening material. The truck also adds lightweight aluminum driveshaft and composite rear leaf springs.

The performance of this Chevrolet is spectacular due to the EcoTec3 6.2L V-8 engine that it is equipped with. It produces 420 horsepower (309 kW) and 623 Nm (460 lb-ft) of torque. A Borla performance exhaust system complements the 6.2L's output.

The powerful unit is coupled with a production six-speed automatic transmission, which includes hill descent control, as well as fuel-saving electric power steering and StabiliTrak electronic stability control with hill start assist.

The interior of the truck was also given a touch. It includes Recaro sport seats and a flat-bottom steering wheel. As an option, there are available safety features such as lane departure warning, front and rear park assist and a rear-vision camera.

All production Silverado models are made with fully boxed frame which is the foundation for their strength and capability. The main rails and major cross members are made of high-strength steel which delivers rigidity and optimal hauling capability.
