Mercedes-Benz US is now offering the entry-level SL400, which is almost $22,000 less expensive than the SL550. Although the SL400 is not as powerful as its V8 sibling, it offers impressive dynamics and decent fuel economy.

2015 Mercedes-Benz SL400 is powered by a 3.0 liter twin-turbocharged V6 engine – 333HP (245 kW) and 479Nm (354 lb-ft) of torque. It is connected to a 7-speed automatic transmission sending the power to the rear wheels. 0-100 km/h in 5.1 seconds and a top speed of 250 km/h (155 mph). The fuel economy stands at 20 mpg US in city (11.8 l / 100 km) and 27 mpg US on the highway (8.7 l / 100 km).

The standard equipment includes heated leather seats, a panoramic glass foldable roof and walnut or black ash trim elements. There is also a Harman/Kardon premium audio system and GPS satellite navigation.

2015 Mercedes-Benz SL400 is priced from $84,925 (excluding destination tax). The SL550 starts at $106,900 and is powered by a 4.7 liter bi-turbo V8 – 429HP (315 kW) and 700Nm (516 lb-ft) of torque. 0-100 km/h in 4.5 seconds and a top speed of 250 km/h (155 mph). Fuel consumption: 17 mpg US in city and 24 mpg US on the highway.
