Right at the apex of the new Fiat 500's third anniversary celebrations, the Italian brand has revealed its special surprise, the innovative TwinAir two-cylinder 85 horsepower engine, commemorating the moment more than properly. Fitted on both, the Fiat 500 and the 500 Cabrio, the new TwinAir two-cylinder 85 horsepower powertrain will be launched from the next September.

The new powertrain is the first of a whole-new family of two-cylinder units engineered by FPT - Fiat Powertrain Technologies, it utilizes the innovative MultiAir system combined with specific fluid dynamics optimized for max fuel efficiency. Thanks to that and few special tuning tricks, the new powertrains family goes from 65 to 105 horsepower, emitting 30% less CO2 than a unit with equal performance.

The models that will benefit from the new two-cylinder TwinAir technology will be further reinforced by an eco:Drive software, a Blue&Me system and the widely famous Start&Stop function, which temporarily stops the engine and starts it again when the car is stationary with the engine idling: this reduces urban cycle average consumption by up to 12%.
